Four Towers tour
The Kiek in de Kök Fortification Museum complex includes four medieval defensive towers. The oldest of them is the only quadrangular regular tower still standing today, the Maiden Tower (Megged Tower), the slightly younger small saddle tower Marstal Tower, the Short-legged Gate Tower connecting the upper and lower town, and the city’s first artillery tower Kiek in de Kök.
On the tour, we walk through the towers and the wall passage connecting them and tell fascinating stories about their history, both facts and urban legends. These towers have been on the front line when the Muscovites bombed the city, which is why they were damaged in the wars, but have been restored. Later, the towers were converted into residential buildings, where prominent figures in our history have lived.
Please note that…
- part of the tour takes place outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather
- we do not recommend the tour for people who are afraid of heights or have difficulty navigating stairs
- the steps of the towers you pass through on the tour are of uneven height at times and may be slippery
- due to the nature of the historical structure, it is not possible to move around in a wheelchair
Maximum number of participants in a group: up to 25 people
